Olga, Teresa and Pilar have been friends since they were born. For years they vacationed together with their parents, and later together on their own. A few years ago, Teresa got married, and for some years they didn't see each other as much. Teresa's divorce prompts a reunion, so the three of them rent a small house for the weekend. In their first day together, it becomes obvious that everything they share is in their past. They have grown apart.

Geraldine, a psychiatric social worker, has an accident whilst in the country. The inhabitants of a nearby house come out to help her and she discovers that one of the family members prefers cows to people.

The hyped French philosopher Malentende visits Sweden to present a groundbreaking hypothesis. Professors are ecstatic as they gather during the break to dissect the meaning of his words. Intellectual reasoning takes unexpected leaps in this wildly humorous film about the perils of blindly following authority.

The film depicts the story of Leonardo's death in grotesque ways. Relatives begin the traditional preparations for the funeral, while the "deceased" archaically "walks" through the city streets, watching with interest the preparations for his own funeral.

When her TV star husband Alex decides to divorce her so that he can start a career in politics, newly single mother Maddy goes shoplifting and ends up in jail. Losing custody of her infant child, Maddy hatches a scheme to break out of prison with the assistance of her friend Gillian, who's avoiding the law herself for credit card fraud. Now Maddy has to find the couple who have adopted her son and avoid falling in love with selfish Alex all over again.
